A Touch of Olden Times

Posted by admin on Mar-2-2009

For those who would like to create a major renovation of their homes, themes like the medieval times could be an interesting choice. Typically, it would showcase features such as arched ceilings, wooden doors, brass furnishings such as brass door handles and many more.

Adopting a medieval theme for a house has only two important check points – subtle luster and olden times appeal. Unlike other design themes, the metal aspect of the medieval theme gives a subtle luster through the brass. Brass is not as shiny and shimmering as silver and gold but its luster’s subtleness gives a warm appeal. It goes well with brown colored woods and medieval tiles. The brass trimmings for a medieval themed house can be featured on its door handles and dining accessories such as the cutlery set.

But for those who do not want a full medieval theme, they could also spice up their own house by putting a small hint of medieval appeal. On the living room for example, brass candle holders can be a new feature that will give an olden times appeal. Or to make it more noticeable, a brass chandelier would really give a medieval set-up to the living room.
